二、英语总结(生词：3)

transfer, transport, transmit

这几个词曾一度让我很头痛，因为这些词都被翻译成了”传输“，从中文的角度来说，不是那么好理解。

beyond: move past something(超过，超越)，extend past limit(超出限制)。

across: move from one side to another(从一边到另一边，穿过，跨过)。

transfer

• transfer: trans-("beyond, across") + ferre("to carry")

vi/vt. transfer literally means "carry across". convey something from one person, place or situation to another(强调从一个地方转移到另一个地方，强调"convey, change")。

• 示例

1. File Transfer Protocol(FTP，文件传输协议)。

2. We transferred the baby's car seat to the other car(我们将宝宝椅挪到另一辆车上了)。

transport & transportation

• transport: trans-("beyond, across") + portare("to carry")

vt. transport literally means "carry across". to carry physical items or people(强调运送实体物品或者人，强调"carry, process")。

• transport/transportation

u. the act of transport(英式英语中，transport 的名词形式是 transport， 即动词和名词是同一个词；在美式英语中， transport 的名词形式是 transportation); vehicles, such as buses, trains, aircraft, etc(交通工具)。

• 示例

1. transport layer(OSI 七层通信模型中的“传输层”)。

transport layer 为什么使用 transport 呢？因为想表达"The transport layer is the vehicle for moving data"。

2. The movie transports us to a world of stunning beauty(这部电影把我们带入了一个美丽绝伦的世界)。

transmit & transmission

• transmit: trans-("beyond, across") + mittere(“to send”)

vi/vt. transmit literally means "send across". transmit 和 transfer，transport 完全是不一样的意思，强调"send, spread"。

• transmission

c/u. the act of transmit(transmission 是 transmit 的名词形式)。

• 示例

1. transmission control protocol(TCP，传输控制协议)。

2. transmitting and receiving radio signals(发送和接受无线型号)。
